Your Information
Last updated: November 2026
This website, jasonahess.com, is the personal site of the Revd Fr Jason A. Hess. We keep as little information about visitors as we can, we never sell it, and we only use it for the reasons below.
Contact form
When you send a message through the Contact page, your name, email address, and message are emailed to Fr Jason so he can reply. A copy may also be kept by the website. Google reCAPTCHA checks the form to block spam; it may collect information about your device and browsing, as described in Google’s Privacy Policy.
Email subscriptions
If you subscribe to new posts, your email address is stored by Jetpack, a service of Automattic (the company behind WordPress.com), and used only to send you new writings. Every email includes an unsubscribe link. If you choose to follow on Substack instead, Substack’s own privacy policy applies there.
Comments
If you leave a comment, the name, email address, and website you enter are stored with it, along with your IP address and browser details to help detect spam. Comments may be checked by the Akismet spam service. Your email address is never shown publicly.
Cookies
The site uses a small number of cookies, mostly so it works properly: for example, remembering your details if you choose to when leaving a comment. Services such as reCAPTCHA and Jetpack may set their own cookies.
Site statistics and security
Jetpack Stats counts visits so we can see which writings are read, without identifying who you are. To protect the site from attacks, the Wordfence security service and our web host, Hostinger, keep standard server logs that include IP addresses.
Embedded content
Some posts include videos or other content from sites such as YouTube or Facebook. That content behaves as if you had visited the other site, and those sites may collect information about you under their own policies.
How long information is kept
Messages and comments are kept for as long as they are useful. Subscriber addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Server and security logs are cleared automatically over time.
Your choices
You may ask to see, correct, or delete any personal information we hold about you, such as a message you sent or a comment you left. Just get in touch through the Contact page.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new date.
