Simultaneously righteous and a sinner
Simul iustus et peccator
The Latin phrase beneath my arms means “at the same time righteous and a sinner.” It names a truth the whole Church knows: the tension between who we are and who God is making us to be. I carry this motto as both a confession and a promise: I am a sinner, and in Christ I am being made whole.
