Our hope…

by | Feb 20, 2025 | Meditation | 0 comments

For the Christian, our hope is not in the secular—albeit with a pseudo-Christian veneer—political system of this country. Presidents, whether Democrat or Republican, will always fail us to one degree or another. None are kings or emperors…just men (and one day women) who happen to have made it to the height of political power.

Regardless, we must not bow to any Caesars. Give them what is theirs, but nothing more because the rest isn’t ours to give away as it’s already spoken for by Christ.

We’re called to place our hope, our trust, our lives in the hands of Christ…completely, without hesitation, and without reservation. Too many, whether by intention or self-deception, demonstrate by their word and deed that they must hold tightly to money, to rights, to political power, and even to their personal security in this world… perhaps because of a malformed sense of self-centered entitlement.

To hold on any way but loosely to the cares of this world, merely proves we still have much to learn of the Kingdom of God.

The Kingdom of God is eternal.

Fear not for the Church, she will endure…as she always has.

However, our witness will die if/when we forget to live out of the overflow of grace, mercy, and love shown to us as individuals, and as local churches.

Admittedly, this is a struggle for all of us who call Jesus our King, our Lord, our Savior, as we feel caught between worlds. However, let’s strive to not forget that we’re all in this together as one body.

We share…
One Lord.
One faith.
One baptism.

We are not of this world.

Grace + Peace.
